Behind Klei

Barbara van Oost & Ben Paola: We met while working for The Rotterdam Dance Group in The Netherlands and have lived and worked together ever since. We create works, predominately jewellery and decorative vessels, out of porcelain. The “Klei “ Aesthethic is defined by a muted palette and organic forms. We are drawn to colours that look like they were once vivid but years of exposure have left them subdued and washed out this also applies to their forms that are void of harsh angles and strong surface detail. The matt patina also adds to the modern relic feel.
